What does being a QA Engineer in Layerise mean in terms of tasks?

My role is to ensure that every aspect of our application meets requirements and maintains high quality. This ensures a great user experience for both our clients and customers. It's a routine part of our sprint cycles to ensure everything remains in top shape. So by thoroughly testing all features, I make sure new additions don't break existing functionality.

How has Layerise supported your professional advancement?

During my initial interaction with Layerise, it became evident that this company prioritizes the development of its employees. What made a lasting impression on me was the emphasis they placed on my thirst for knowledge, despite my limited six-month study experience. Ervin (CEO & Co-Founder) dedicated time to answer all of my questions and thoroughly explore my motivations. This experience remains profoundly rewarding and continues to fuel my motivation to learn and push my boundaries. Since my commencement at Layerise, my skill set has undergone substantial growth, but what lingers most is the desire to consistently challenge myself and nurture personal development.

What makes a great QA Engineer?

There are various approaches to testing, commonly referred to as testing methodologies. However, the most effective way is to maintain a keen and observant mindset. This means being highly attentive and quick to spot anything that appears amiss, whether it's a simple typo or a subtle color variation. This ability to detect issues immediately isn't innate; it's a skill that develops over time with practice. As you repeatedly work on similar tasks and gain a deep understanding of how the application functions, you become adept at identifying bugs promptly whenever new elements are introduced. So in summation, I’d say that being detail-oriented and observant are clear advantages but ultimately what is most important is that one is willing to learn and to ask questions.

How have you witnessed Layerise’s evolution over the years?

From my perspective, I've seen significant growth in our platform’s admin part. It started relatively simple, but now it has evolved with numerous exciting features. While I may not know the sales side of it in great detail, I've witnessed the impressive capabilities of our admin part, which continually surprises me. Our team keeps delivering fantastic functionalities, making Layerise a dynamic and evolving platform, and in my opinion the most innovational company.

How would you describe Layerise’s remote work culture?

Despite my initial preference for traditional office settings, I've experienced personal growth through my exposure to remote work. While I genuinely cherish the camaraderie of an office environment, with its coffee breaks and lively conversations, I've come to appreciate the unique benefits of collaborating with remote colleagues. To be completely candid, working remotely with my team has proven to be an exceptionally enriching experience.

In the realm of remote work, the most common hurdles often revolve around inconsistent communication and a sense of detachment from the team. Remarkably, my experience at Layerise has defied these common challenges. Communication flows seamlessly, and although I primarily engage with the engineering team, I still feel a strong connection to all my coworkers.
